The Annual Forum of Developing Country Investment Negotiators

The South Centre joins the International Institute for Sustainable Development annually in co-organizing the forum for developing country investment negotiators. The forum is a unique space dedicated to discussing current trends and perspectives in regard to international investment agreements, with a focus on developing countries’ experiences and objectives. It is dedicated to sharing of experiences and lessons learned from different national and regional contexts.

 

10th Annual Forum (2016)

The 10th Annual Forum of Developing Country Investment Negotiators was held between November 7 and 9, 2016 in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

The event was organized by the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD) and the South Centre and co-hosted by the Board of Investment of Sri Lanka.

The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss the state of play of the current framework on international investment and ongoing discussions and negotiations at the bilateral, regional and multilateral levels.

The forum encourages the sharing of ideas and experiences among developing country officials with the aim of identifying potential solutions to the issues faced by countries and finding common ground and ways forward.

9th Annual Forum (2015)

The Ninth Annual Forum was co-organized with the government of Brazil in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from November 16 to 18, 2015, and was attended by participants from 48 countries.
