Hailong WU (Board Member, 2016-present)

Wu Hailong, China, was the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary and Permanent Representative of the Permanent Mission of the People’s Republic of China to the United Nations Office at Geneva and other International Organizations in Switzerland from 2014 to 2016.

Prior to this, he was the Ambassador of the Permanent Mission of the People’s Republic of China to the European Union (2011-2014) and to the United Nations and other International Organizations in Vienna (2004-2006). He was also the Permanent Representative to the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

From 2006 to 2009 Wu Hailong served as the Director-General of the Department of International Organizations and Conferences of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China and from 2009 to 2011 as Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs. From 2001 to 2004, he was  Deputy Commissioner at the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

He has also worked for the Permanent Mission of the People’s Republic of China to the United Nations, Permanent Mission of the People’s Republic of China to the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) and the Chinese Embassy in the State of Israel.

Currently, Wu Hailong is the President of the Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs.
