Wenchang YANG (Board Member, 2014-present)

Wenchang YANG, China, began his career in foreign affairs at the Chinese embassies in the United Kingdom and France.

From 1979 to 1984, he served  in the Department of International Organizations and Conferences and from 1984 to 1993  in the Department of Personnel in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China.

In 1995, Mr. Yang was named China’s ambassador to Singapore and served as such until 1997. From 1998 to 2003, Mr. Yang served as Vice-Minister in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China covering West Asian, North African, and African affairs as well as for personnel affairs.

From 2003 to 2005, he served as the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of China.

In 2005, he became the President of the Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs.
