The conference will review progress in combating antimicrobial resistance towards achieving the 2030 agenda on sustainable development, identify gaps and opportunities for regional and global collaboration, and advance a regional approach to strengthen global governance for antimicrobial resistance.

The conference will convene high level policy makers from the health, animal and environmental sectors as well as civil society representatives from many African countries and intergovernmental agencies.
