Assessment Framework for National Ecosystem for South-South and Triangular Cooperation
The South Centre provided instrumental technical feedback for the development of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB)’s NEW publication Assessment Framework for National Ecosystem for South-South and Triangular Cooperation.
As a response to the recommendations discussed at the 2nd High-Level United Nations (UN) Conference on South-South Cooperation (also referred to as BAPA+40), IsDB has approved a new capacity development programme to strengthen the national institutional arrangements, collectively referred to as the National Ecosystem for South-South and Triangular Cooperation in the member countries.
Accordingly, the Bank formulated a new knowledge product entitled “Assessment Framework for National Ecosystems for South-South and Triangular Cooperation”. This product has been designed as a comprehensive tool that will be used to identify specific capacity gaps in the existing national ecosystems for South-South and Triangular Cooperation in the member countries. These assessments will then be used to develop country-specific interventions relevant to their contexts.
In recent years, the South Centre’s and IsDB’s teams have collaborated on many fronts in promoting South-South and Triangular Cooperation (SSTrC), showing productive partnership. This includes, among others, advocating for various recommendations to be included in the Outcome Document of BAPA+40, formulating the framework on national ecosystems for SSTrC through the joint publication on the subject and organizing various events to promote this framework on international platforms such as the Non-Aligned Movement Conference held in Azerbaijan in 2019 and the High-Level Forum of Directors General for Development Cooperation. As part of this cooperation, the South Centre has provided valuable contributions and technical support on many topics.
