WIPO Member States have agreed to undertake negotiations to prevent misappropriation of genetic resources and associated traditional knowledge through the intellectual property system and to promote prior informed consent as well as benefit-sharing arising from their utilization.
This side event will discuss and critically assess the role of WIPO in this endeavour against the backdrop of various related international agreements and ongoing deliberations in other multilateral fora.
