North-South Forum, 9 March 2015
North-South Forum on Multilateral Cooperation in a World of Crises
Venue: Room VIII, Palais des Nations
Location: Geneva
This Forum was organised by the South Centre with the cooperation of the Government of Finland. The objective of the Forum is to generate discussions on the state of multilateral cooperation at this crucial juncture when the world faces multiple crises, challenges and possibilities, including in the global economy, in the environment including on climate change, and in health care (including Ebola, other emerging diseases, and antibiotic resistance). This year there will be important opportunities for multilateral cooperation to face these challenges, including the Post 2015 Development Agenda, the conclusion of the formulation of the Sustainable Development Goals, the Financing for Development Conference, the preparations for UNCTAD XIV, the Climate UNFCCC COP in Paris, the WTO Ministerial, etc.
The keynote speakers at this Forum were H.E. Erkki Tuomioja, Foreign Minister of Finland, and H.E. Benjamin Mkapa, Chairman of the Board, South Centre and former President of Tanzania. They were also joined by a panel of other speakers who are involved in leadership positions in tackling these issues.
