The South Centre is organizing a “Conference on Biomedical R&D for Public Health in India” at the Vivanta Ambassador Hotel in New Delhi on 13-14 August 2018. The conference is being co-organized with the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research and the Pharmaceuticals Export Promotion Council of India (PHARMEXCIL).
The objective of this conference is to understand the current landscape for R&D in medical products in India and the extent to which it is responding to public health needs of the Indian society as well as global public health needs, and discuss the related global debates in the multilateral fora. The conference will bring together representatives from government departments and public funded R&D initiatives, the Indian pharmaceutical industry, as well as civil society and academia to share experiences of R&D initiatives, identify challenges and explore solutions.
